Hinsdale-Area DUI Suspect Had 'Crappy Night': Cops
The lawyer was the second one from the same law firm to be charged with DUI in Hinsdale.

HINSDALE, IL – A Clarendon Hills lawyer charged with DUI earlier this month told an officer he had a "crappy night" at a local country club, police said.
Kevin C. Backus, 51, of Clarendon Hills, was stopped by a Hinsdale officer about 1 a.m. March 10 in the 5900 block of South Madison Street, police said.
Backus was the second lawyer from the same law firm to be arrested by Hinsdale police on a DUI charge in a matter of days.

The police report, which Patch obtained through a public records request, indicates Backus was more agreeable with officers than his colleague.
He was stopped after an officer saw him speeding 53 mph in a 30 mph zone in his Mercedes-Benz coupe on South Madison, according to the report.

Backus told the officer, "Sorry, I was getting around a corner in a hurry," police said.
He told the officer he was at the Ruth Lake Country Club in Hinsdale that night, taking part in a paddle tennis tournament, the report said.
The officer reported he smelled a strong odor of alcohol on Backus' breath and that the driver's eyes were bloodshot and glassy.
Asked what he had to drink, Backus said he "just had a bourbon," according to the report.
"We lost tonight. I'm trying to get home. It's been a crappy night," Backus was quoted as saying.
According to police, Backus blew a .13 on a breath test, exceeding the legal limit of .08.
The officer asked Backus what kind of pour he had of bourbon. Backus stated it was a "country club pour," the report said.
According to the online Urban Dictionary, the country club version is a "generous pour of wine or spirit that you expect an exclusive club would give members."
Backus was charged with DUI and speeding. He was stopped three blocks from the country club.
His car was towed away. He was released.
Backus declined to comment when a Patch reporter called him last week.
