Hinsdale Bank Burglar Answered Phone: Police

A woman broke through a window to enter the bank last month, authorities said.

HINSDALE, IL – A woman broke through a rear window last month at Bank of America, 118 W. First St., and rummaged through a teller's drawer, but found no money, Hinsdale police said.

Patch obtained the police report through a public records request.

Police said they were called because of an alarm at Bank of America about 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 26.

While there, the woman answered a phone call from an employee, but she said nothing, police said. Officers later swabbed the phone for possible DNA evidence.

The gloved-up woman opened a teller's drawer, but it contained no money.

The woman was described as slender and wearing a red Reebok hoodie, red pants, a dark hat and a medical face mask. She was possibly black, but it was hard to tell because the only visible area of her skin was her face, police said.

Police said they would provide surveillance footage of the woman in response to Patch's request.
