Hinsdale Caucus Looking for Potential Candidates

Hinsdale Caucus is looking for residents to volunteer to run for local offices

The Hinsdale caucus could use your help.

Caucus nominating committee members need to find individuals who are willing to serve on the Hinsdale Village Board, the Hinsdale Village Public Library Board and the Community Consolidated Elementary District 181 School Board.

For more than 75 years the caucus, a non-partisan group of residents, has worked to identify, interview and nominate candidates to serve on the elected boards of the three taxing districts. The next municipal election is April 4, 2017 and candidates must have all their papers filed by December 12th.

Caucus delegates were randomly assigned to the various nominating committees at the June 6th meeting.

People interested in running for an office are asked to submit a written application to the appropriate nominating committee by the end of the month. The deadlines are flexible up to a limit. The committees need time to vet the applicants prior to the third general meeting of the caucus which will be held in late November.

All applicants will be interviewed by the appropriate committee before recommendations are made to the full caucus. The members of all committees are under strict guidelines to keep all information regarding the candidate applications and interviews confidential.

Finding residents who are willing to volunteer their time to serve on the caucus can be challenging as can finding people who are willing to run for office and serve a four-year term, if elected.

The caucus not only finds and endorses candidates, but will also help the candidates navigate the election process.

People interested in nominating a resident or putting their own name forth should contact one of the members of the nominating committees. A list of the committee members, the committee specific email address and applications are all available on the caucus website, www.hinsdalecaucus.org

The committee members are:

181 Committee: Susan Blumberg-Kason, Gayatri Singh Batra, Brian Birnbaum, Sara Byron, Megan Chung, Mike Hatfield, Margie Jeffords, Ronald Lauesen, Yvonne Mayer, Ankit Patel and Dan Saviano.
