Hinsdale Central Pool Set To Open Next Month

An official said he didn't want to overpromise, but it appears the project is on track.

HINSDALE, IL – Hinsdale Central High School's 3-year-old pool, which is undergoing repairs, is still on schedule to open Oct. 7, an official said Thursday.

"There's still a way to go. I don't want to overpromise, but things right now are on track," Superintendent Michael Lach told the school board.

Officials said they hope the pool will be ready by Oct. 11, which is the girls swim team's senior night.

Parents of swimmers on the girls swim team have been frustrated with the delays in the repairs.

Throughout most of the summer, the school stated on its website that the pool would be open in time for the girls swim season. That message remained even after that was no longer the case. (The school informed team members specifically about the delays.)

The repairs involve the replacement of tiles, which have been a problem since the multimillion-dollar pool opened in 2021.

Contractors are footing the bill.

The swim team is holding practices and meets at Hinsdale South High School in Darien and FMC Natatorium in Westmont, officials said.
