Coach Wiggins on the West Suburban Conference opener: “I have said this for 20 years – the West Suburban Conference has to be among the best soccer conferences around. The match today gave us a strong test, which was expected. The boys talked about how we clinched the title at Glenbard West last fall, so we knew they would come in today playing hard. That is exactly what we prepared for, and it really gave our guys a good idea of just what we will be seeing regularly. A credit to Glenbard West for how they competed this afternoon.”
Coach Wiggins on the shutout: “Wes Bergevin came up big twice on balls that got in and he closed well and made good strong saves. I can see Wes grow with effort time out, and he clearly is settling in. Not sure how much more I can compliment our back line. They play strong as a core group and are so hard to break down. All the credit to them for how they stayed composed and worked all game.”
Coach Wiggins on the lone goal: “Christian stepped up like I knew he would and recorded the game winner today. His competitiveness really raises the bar for our group and he showed that again this afternoon.”
