Hinsdale D-181 Board Member Resigns
The board is looking for a replacement. A decision is expected in August.
HINSDALE, IL – Sarah Jakobsen, a board member for Hinsdale School District 181, resigned last week.
"As a Board member for the past three years, she has been insightful, supportive and collaborative," the district said in a statement Wednesday. "Ms. Jakobsen will be really missed."
She and other board members have been "instrumental in forging a powerful partnership with administrators, staff members and the community to produce outstanding outcomes for our students."

During her time, the board obtained its first Governance Award from the Illinois Association of School Boards.
Applications from residents to fill the open board seat will be accepted through 4 p.m. July 6, the district said. Interviews are set to be held in mid-July, with the board slated to select a candidate at an Aug. 1 special meeting.

The new board member's term will last through next April.
Unlike in some states, interviews for elected positions in Illinois are allowed to be held behind closed doors. They nearly always are.
Even the names of candidates can be kept secret in Illinois, although public bodies in some instances release them.
