HINSDALE, IL – The Hinsdale High School District 86 board on Thursday is set to choose a new assistant superintendent for academics.

The person would come at a time of uncertainty in the district's leadership.

The current assistant superintendent is Chris Covino. He is leaving June 30 to become superintendent of La Grange School District 102.

Last week, Covino was named acting superintendent because Superintendent Tammy Prentiss was on a "leave of absence."

If Prentiss remains on leave until July, it is unclear who would become the new acting leader.

The board's meeting agenda for Thursday did not include the proposed contract or the name of the assistant superintendent candidate.

If past practice is followed, the district is preparing a news release that would be issued moments after the board's vote of approval.

The agenda says the person would get a two-year contract starting July 1, making $200,000 a year.

District records show that Covino's salary was $184,140 as of last year.
