Hinsdale D86 Wants To Hire Interim Leader
The board also plans to close the doors to discuss specific personnel.

HINSDALE, IL – The Hinsdale High School District board on Monday plans to discuss the hiring of an interim superintendent.
On July, Jason Markey, who started as the assistant superintendent for academics, was also named the acting superintendent.
But it appears as if the board wants to hire an interim superintendent through next June. This would be while the board conducts a search for a new superintendent.

By hiring an interim leader, the board would essentially pay for two superintendents. Late last month, the board agreed to pay former Superintendent Tammy Prentiss her full year's $277,000 salary for this budget year. She was suspended with pay in mid-May.
For interim superintendent, the board is likely to hire a retired school administrator. If the administrator is receiving an Illinois teacher's pension, that person is limited to 120 days of work in a budget year.

According to a District 86 memo, the Illinois Association of School Boards can provide a list of possible candidates for superintendent.
The board could also hire a search firm to seek an interim superintendent, the memo said.
In 2021, the Elmhurst School District 205 board hired a retired superintendent to serve as interim superintendent for three months. That was after then-Superintendent Dave Moyer was pressured to leave three months earlier than he originally planned.
Also at Monday's District 86 board meeting, members plan to close the doors to discuss issues with specific personnel. Past closed meetings were likely about Prentiss, but it's unclear which employee would be under discussion now.
