Hinsdale Dance Academy celebrates its 3rd Anniversary

The Hinsdale Dance Academy (HDA) celebrates its 3rd anniversary on October 22, 2015. HDA was founded on October 22, 2012, by Ms. Jennifer Grapes. In three short years, HDA has welcomed over 350 students from all around the Chicagoland area and produced nine professional productions including The Nutcracker, Cinderella, and The Little Mermaid. This year, they opened a brand new facility on Blackhawk Drive in Westmont, IL. The new location has over 7500 square feet and boasts three studios, all equipped with Harlequin sprung floor systems and marley flooring. There is also a large dressing room, costume shoppe, study area, and ample parking.

Leading faculty members have had extensive dance careers and hail from companies such as the American Ballet Theatre, the Joffrey Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, Alabama Ballet, Houston Ballet, and Inaside Chicago. HDA is also the only academy in the Western Suburbs to be an official Angelina Ballerina Dance Academy (ABDA). The ABDA program was designed by child psychologists and leading dancers. Young dancers can follow Angelina on her way to becoming a prima ballerina!

HDA students have placed in the top 12 at the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) semi-finals and have qualified/attended the YAGP New York City Finals in 2013, 2014, and 2015. HDA alumni are studying dance at Butler University, Point Park University, University of Iowa, and University of Missouri-Kansas City. HDA dancers have also received professional contracts to dance with the Albany Berkshire Ballet, Kentucky Ballet Theatre, and Minnesota Ballet.

HDA is founded on three principles: Educate, Nurture, Inspire. This year guest teachers and choreographers from around the world will be traveling to help educate, nurture, and inspire the students of HDA.
