Hinsdale Eyes Apartment Condo Again
The developer is aiming for "luxury lifestyle" units in an older building.

HINSDALE, IL – The Hinsdale Village Board on Tuesday is set to address the latest plan for a dozen condos in the old Zion Lutheran School at 125 S. Vine St.
Last year, the village approved a conceptual plan, but the developer, South Bend, Indiana-based Holladay Properties, has made changes to it since then.
The old school has been largely vacant since 2009. Through the plan, Holladay Properties said the renovated building could get another 90 years of "vibrant" use.

Holladay Properties plans to renovate the second and third stories into "luxury lifestyle" condos – six units per floor. They will be aimed at those 55 or older, a group known as "empty nesters," the developer said.
The developer is designating the first floor for residents' parking.

Under the proposal, the developer would bar condo owners from using their units for short-term rentals such as Airbnb.
The developer also plans three open spaces in the project.
At its meeting Tuesday, the Village Board could vote to send the matter for a hearing to the Plan Commission. If the board finds the project lacks merit, it would need the votes of four members to deny it.
