Hinsdale Junior Woman's Club Announces Annual Gala

The Hinsdale Junior Woman's Club has announced that its annual benefit gala will take place on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018.

HINSDALE, IL — The Hinsdale Junior Woman’s Club's annual benefit gala will take place on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at Carnivale in Chicago. Titled “Samba to Stop Hunger,” the gala will donate proceeds to HCS Family Services. A Chicago-based nonprofit organization, HCS provides nutritious food to more than 21,000 people in Southeast DuPage County each year, including one in five area children who don’t have enough to eat.

“DuPage County has the second highest rate of food insecurity in Illinois,” HJWC President Shazia Sultan said in a release. “It’s heartbreaking to know that people in our own community, students at our children’s schools, don’t always know where their next meal is coming from or that families have to sometimes choose between paying utility bills or putting food on the table. HJWC and our many partners are dedicated to raising awareness of this critical issue, and generating funds to help ensure no family faces hunger.”

According to the club, HJWC’s efforts are strengthened by support from many local and national organizations, with sponsorships from Evergreen Bank, Hinsdale Bank and Trust, Cheung Dermatology & Aesthetic Center, Harbor Light Hospice, Kendra Scott, Tiffany & Co., Countryside Dental, Union Partners, Tandem HR, Invesco, Brush Pediatric Dentistry, Berkshire Hathaway and TinkRworks.

“The funds raised by HJWC and our many generous community partners will fortify our efforts to fight hunger and promote self-sufficiency in DuPage County,” Stan Cook, Interim Executive Director of HCS Family Services Hinsdale, said in a release. “Their support will ensure that our HCS food pantries in Hinsdale and at Anne M. Jeans Elementary School in Willowbrook continue to serve as lifelines for the many families suffering from food insecurity in our own local community.”

"Samba to Stop Hunger" promises to be an incredible event with music by one of Chicago’s most coveted entertainers, DJ Rock City. Ticketed guests will also revel in entertainment by aerialists and fire breathers, a casino where players have an opportunity to win high-end raffle items and a jewelry pull sponsored by Kendra Scott. Guests who purchase a VIP ticket will have access to an exclusive lounge.
