Hinsdale Man Suspected In Murder-Suicide

The man called police to say he had murdered his ex-wife, authorities said.

GENEVA, IL – A Hinsdale man fatally shot his ex-wife last week before taking his own life, authorities said.

About 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Hinsdale resident Chad L. Dockery, 49, called 911 to say he had murdered Amanda R. Dockery, 48, of Geneva, according to a Geneva police news release.

Chad Dockery told dispatchers that he was armed with a pistol, police said.

The first arriving officer saw Chad Dockery inside a car at the end of Amanda Dockery's driveway on Pebble Beach Court, the news release said. Chad Dockery then shot himself, police said.

Inside the house, officers found Amanda Dockery suffering from two gunshot wounds, police said. Medics took the couple to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva. She was pronounced dead at 6:06 p.m. and he at 7:30 p.m.

No one else was inside the house, police said.

Geneva police said the incident remains under investigation.

A week before the tragedy, a Kane County judge ordered Chad Dockery to pay his ex-wife more than $10,000 in monthly installments or face jail, according to the Daily Herald.
