Murder-Suicide: Man Called 911 To Report Shooting Ex-Wife, Police Say
The man called 911 to inform police he killed his ex-wife. When officers arrived and approached him in his car, he shot himself, cops say.

GENEVA, IL — A man and his ex-wife were shot and killed Wednesday evening in what Geneva police are calling a murder-suicide.
Authorities say that Chad Dockery, 49, called 911 Wednesday evening to alert police he had murdered his former wife, 48-year-old Amanda Dockery, at a house in the 1000 block of Pebble Beach Court. He told dispatchers he was armed with a pistol, according to officials.
When the first responding officer arrived around 5:33 p.m. at the residence in Geneva's Eagle Brook subdivision, they found Chad in a car at the end of a driveway, and as the officer approached, a gun was fired.

Police found Chad suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, officials said, before finding a 9 mm pistol.
Officers found Amanda suffering from two apparent gunshot wounds in the house. Geneva and Batavia fire personnel took them both to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital, where Amanda was pronounced dead at 6:06 p.m. and Chad at 7:30 p.m., officials said.

No other people were found inside the house, and no one else was injured, according to police.
The incident is under investigation by members of the Geneva Police Department and Kane County Major Crimes Task Force. Autopsies by the Kane County Coroner's Office are pending.
About 10 local agencies, including police departments from surrounding towns and Kane County Emergency Management, assisted Geneva police and paramedics on the scene.
