This Hinsdale Neighborhood Suffers Flooding: Resident
Village president says this was first he had heard about issue in this area.
HINSDALE, IL — A resident in a northeast Hinsdale neighborhood this week asked for the village's help with flooding in her area, which includes Fuller Road and Phillippa Street and is near Whole Foods. She said she was speaking on her neighbors' behalf.
"Substantial flooding occurs almost every time it rains," Katherine Schoon said at Tuesday's Village Board meeting.
The situation, she said, is worsened by the "really terrible condition" of the roads.

"The streets themselves are basically covered in a pattern of tar. They get ripped up every winter," Schoon said. "In addition to that, the gutters are completely missing their grates, which has led to many flat tires."
Schoon said she had contacted the village about the problem recently and that it was known the northeast area of Hinsdale lacked sewer capacity. She said she would "rally as many troops as I must" to ensure something is done.

In response, Village President Tom Cauley said he had been on the board for a dozen years and this was the first he had heard about flooding issues in the neighborhood in question.
"But as with all flooding issues, we take this issue seriously," he said.
Cauley said the village administration was in contact with an outside engineering firm, which would identify the problem and the cost to fix it.
"Some of these issues are very difficult," he said.
Officials said they would get an engineer on the job starting in a couple of weeks. "None of this happens overnight," Cauley said.
