Hinsdale Rotary Club Installs Officers

Awards given out at meeting this month.

The Rotary Club of Hinsdale gathered June 20 at Ruth Lake Country Club in Hinsdale to thank individuals who provided extraordinary service in the past year and to welcome new officers and board members.

Outgoing President Jim Slesser of Burr Ridge presented several awards. These included:

    Rotarian of the Year - Caryl Andersen of Darien

    Oscar Award - Greg Donnelly of Hinsdale, for his many years of leading the Rotary Run Charity Classic as chairman

    Lifetime Achievement Award - Emma Sue Smallwood, formerly of Burr Ridge, for her service to the club. She served as president of the Hinsdale club, District 6450 governor and also participated on several humanitarian trips to China.

Rotarian Mike Pauritsch of Hinsdale served as master of ceremonies. District Governor Pat Merryweather-Arges presided over the installation of officers. Former Club President Charles Hartley of Hinsdale saluted several longtime members for their service.

Officers for the 2012-13 Rotary Year are Rich Barton of Burr Ridge, president; Chuck Snyder of Hinsdale, president-elect; Brad Summers of Hinsdale, vice president and programs; Caryl Andersen, secretary; Don Brummet of Bolingbrook, treasurer; John Lowry of Downers Grove, sergeant-at-arms; Jim Slesser, immediate past president and Foundation chairman; Mike James of Downers Grove and Mike Gustafson of Wheaton, public relations; Roger Herring of Western Springs, membership; Greg Siedlecki of Countryside -The Wheel Editor.

New board members are: Cheri Vana of Lansing; Greg Donnelly; Keith

Larson of Hinsdale; Michael Gustafson; and Robert Parsons of La Grange Park.

 

Guests included beneficiaries of the Rotary Run Charity Classic.

The Hinsdale Humane Society was represented by Executive Director Lori Halligan, and Public Relations and Special Events Director Pam Salomone.

Executive Director Meg Cooper represented the District 181 Foundation.

Other beneficiaries of the Rotary Run are the Hinsdale Hospital Foundation and The Community House.

The Rotary Club of Hinsdale meets weekly at the Community House in Hinsdale.

The club, founded in 1959, consists of men and women of diverse backgrounds whose personal commitment to service ranges from support of local youth programs to assistance for the poor and sick across the globe.
