Hinsdale Surgeon Elected to Lead Sports Medicine Organization
Dr. Charles Bush-Joseph, of Hinsdale, was recently elected to the presidential line for the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Charles Bush-Joseph, sports medicine orthopedic surgeon and managing partner at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, was recently elected to the presidential line for the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine (AOSSM). He is serving as vice-president for 2015, president elect for 2016 and president for 2017. Currently on the board and as president, he will make strategic decisions for the purpose of advancing the goals of the orthopedic sports medicine research and education, clinical practice, and industry relations. The AOSSM is the most prominent orthopedic sports medicine society in the USA with worldwide influence.
“I’ve been a member of the AOSSM for many years have seen the impact it has made on sports medicine,” explains Dr. Bush-Joseph. “I’m honored to be trusted by members to lead the organization over the next two years.”

Long involved in the care of high school, collegiate and recreational athletes, Dr. Bush-Joseph is the head team physician for the Chicago White Sox and associate team physician for the Chicago Bulls. Through his experience with high profile professional athletes, Dr. Bush-Joseph was elected president of the Major League Baseball Team Physician Association for 2012.
In addition to maintaining a busy clinical practice and performing more than 400 surgeries annually, he is a professor at Rush University Medical Center and the Associate Director of the Rush Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship Program.

AOSSM members are physicians and allied health professionals who demonstrate scientific leadership, involvement and dedication in the daily practice of sports medicine.
Members must demonstrate continuing active research and/or educational activities in the field of sports medicine.
