Hinsdale's 'Angry Karen' Sentenced
She tried to bite an officer and repeatedly insulted police in an encounter at her house.

HINSDALE, IL – The Hinsdale woman who went viral trying to bite a local officer has been sentenced to go through a mental health program, court records show.
Shawn N. Mullarkey, 46, entered a plea deal with prosecutors in early December.
If she successfully completes the program and keeps her nose clean, prosecutors have agreed to drop the felony charge of aggravated assault to a police officer, according to DuPage County court records.

Mullarkey pleaded guilty to felony aggravated DUI (her third such offense). And prosecutors dropped the charge of possession of alcohol by a driver.
She was sentenced to a year of probation for the charge of resisting an officer.

Under the plea agreement, she was sentenced to jail for 10 days, but received credit for the 33 days she served behind bars. She owes $6,000 in fines and fees.
The probation for Mullarkey's DUI charge lasts 24 months.
Last year, Blue Watch posted a video of Mullarkey, 46, in the incident at her house. Attracting nearly 8 million views, the video was titled "Angry Karen With a Warrant Tries to Bite Officer."
The incident took place at Mullarkey's $1 million house in the 100 block of West Walnut Street. She repeatedly insulted the police
In one case, she told an officer, "You are a piece of dirt that I wouldn't piss on if you were on fire."
The officer said, "I smell an odor of alcohol on you."
She responded, "That's my piss because I'm pissing on you."
Last spring, Patch wrote a story about the June 2022 incident and linked to the video.
In June and July, prosecutors said Mullarkey violated the terms of her release.
