Hit-And-Run Arrest, Theft Of Meds: Hinsdale Cops

Man is arrested after hitting car waiting at traffic light, report says.

HINSDALE, IL — In recent days, Hinsdale police have handled calls involving hit-and-run accidents, a theft of cold medicine and a stolen bicycle, among other things. Here is information from the latest Hinsdale police reports:

  • Christian Rice, 22, of La Grange, was cited about 5 p.m. July 25 on charges of failure to give aid or information after an accident involving vehicle damage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured vehicle. A driver reported that he was rear-ended while he was stopped at a traffic light at York Road and Ogden Avenue. The other car, driven by Rice, left the area. Police determined Rice's identity, and Rice went to the police state. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • An employee at Walgreens, 15 Grant Square, saw a person place six boxes of cold medicine into a black backpack without paying for them. The suspect was described as a white man wearing blue jeans, a white T-shirt and a blue face mask. The stolen items were valued at $274.
  • A hit-and-run crash happened about 10:30 a.m. July 31 at Ogden Avenue and Route 83. The victim said the driver of a black SUV struck the back of her car while she was in the turn lane. The suspect did not stop and continued east on Ogden.
  • A resident in the 400 block of Birchwood Road told police that the driver of a tan SUV pulled up to his mailbox and stole documents inside it. The theft happened about 3 p.m. July 27.
  • A bicycle valued at $500 was stolen from a bike rack between 1:30 p.m. and 2:25 p.m. July 25 at Garfield and Hinsdale avenues. The victim said the lock was removed and placed on top of his family's other bikes at the rack.
  • Kevin K. Waring, 18, of Burr Ridge, was cited about 1:30 a.m. Aug. 4 in the 400 block of West Hickory on a charge of illegal consumption of alcohol by a person under 21. He was cited and released to appear in court.
  • A car in the 600 block of East First Street was burglarized between 4 p.m. Aug. 3 and 4 a.m. Aug. 4. Police saw the garage and car doors open and alerted the victim.
