Hinsdale Chamber President, Jan Anderson has contacted Washington Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Chevie Ruder in an effort to learn how Hinsdale businesses and Chamber members can best support their efforts for recovery.
When asked, Chevie Ruder explained the need for donations of cleaning supplies including Clorox wipes, laundry detergent, dish towels, dish soap, bleach, fabric softener, windex, mops, brooms, mop buckets, toilet paper and paper towels. (Toothbrushes & tooth paste are not needed.)
Many of Washington's residents are living in hotels or in greatly reduced and smaller living spaces. However, as people are placed into rental units all types of cleaning supplies will be necessary.

The Hinsdale Chamber is working with Michael LaFido of The Michael LaFido Home Selling Team from ERA/Feinstein Realtors. Michael has generously offered to utilize his box truck for donation collections that will occur during the Santa visits in Burlington Park each Saturday in December including the 7th, 14th & 21st. Michael has also agreed to deliver the donated items by driving the truck down to Washington once donations have been collected.
A Business Recovery Fund has been started by the Washington Chamber as their business community has been crippled by this disaster. The fund will be used to help launch a city-wide marketing campaign targeting the surrounding area communities encouraging them to shop Washington in order to assist in their recovery.

A similar campaign was introduced in Joplin, Missouri after a devastating tornado ravaged that community in 2010. Joplin officials have been in contact with Washington leaders to offer their support and best advice based on their own experiences and first hand knowledge.
WE HOPE YOU WILL JOIN IN THE CAUSE AND DONATE TODAY!
