HINSDALE, IL – No written evidence exists that Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker had planned to visit Hinsdale Central High School this month, the school district said Tuesday.

Hinsdale High School District 86 responded to Patch's request for records showing that Pritzker or his representatives indicated the governor's willingness to visit Central.

"The District has reviewed its files and has not located any records responsive to your request," the district's records officer, Deb Kedrowski, said in a reply.

District officials, including Central Principal Bill Walsh, have not indicated how they came to believe Pritzker was coming.

Two weeks ago, Central announced in its weekly newsletter that Pritzker planned to speak to a half-hour assembly of Central students in mid-May. A few days later, though, the governor's office said no such plan existed because Pritzker was focused on the legislative session in Springfield.

After Patch reported on the governor's office's statement, Central issued a mass email acknowledging that Pritzker was not coming.

Following the school's original announcement, a debate ensued among board members about whether Pritzker should speak at an assembly.
