Pool Projects Move Forward At Hinsdale Central, Hinsdale South
The District 86 board of education directed administrators to move forward with plans for new pools at both high schools.

HINSDALE, IL — New pools are in the plans for both Hinsdale Central and Hinsdale South high schools. The Hinsdale Township High School District 86 board of education this week directed the school administration to move forward with plans for new pools at both schools, officials said.
The planned new pool at Hinsdale Central is set to be 10 lanes, 40 yards in length. The pool planned at Hinsdale South in Darien is set to be six lanes and also 40 yards in length, school district officials said in an email.
According to documents shared by the board of education, the cost of the planned Hinsdale Central pool project comes to roughly $23,839,081. The option for a pool the size of the one planned at South is about $3 million less than that.

The district addressed the discrepancy between the current plans and what was discussed before voters in the district approved a $140 million referendum in April.
"We recognize that the direction we provided on the pools is a departure from what was discussed in the months leading up to the April referendum," the district said in a statement. "We also understand that it might raise questions about the impact it may have on the other projects we have planned, or the money we have allocated to pay for them.
