Retired Hinsdale Police Chief Starts New Job At Hinsdale Central

Chief of Police Kevin Simpson announced his retirement in May, and now he will start a new job at Hinsdale Central.

HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale Police Chief Kevin Simpson will stay in the town he's served for 28 years when he starts his new job. His new position as student safety supervisor at Hinsdale Central will be the next step for the chief, who retires from Hinsdale Police Department Aug. 23.

Simpson announced his retirement in May, stating that he was proud of the work he had done as a law enforcement professional in Hinsdale.

“Being a Hinsdale police officer is the only job I’ve known for 28 years and for that I am extremely fortunate. For me, after nearly three decades proudly serving this community, it’s the right time, both personally and professionally, to move on to the next chapter of my life,” Simpson said in a release at the time.

The Chicago Tribune reported that Simpson's new position will pay $15 an hour and he will join the other 18 student safety supervisors in District 86.

According to the job posting for his new position, Simpson will now be responsible for supervising students on school grounds and maintaining a safe environment during the day and at school events.
