Ruse Burglars Target Hinsdale Resident: Cops

A suspect distracted the owner outside, while another entered the house to commit theft, police said.

HINSDALE, IL – Ruse burglars posing as utility workers targeted a Hinsdale resident last week, police said.

About 5:30 p.m. June 1, a man and a woman approached the resident at his house in the 5500 block of South County Line Road, according to a police report. The man said he needed to dig on the property to fix a utility problem, police said.

The woman entered the house while the man distracted the resident in the yard, the report said. The victim reported $95 stolen from his wallet.

The man was described as Hispanic, 20 to 30 years old, 5-foot-8 and 120 pounds. The woman was said to be Hispanic and 20 to 30 years old.

Police said the pair were in a white Dodge pickup truck.
