Say No To Homecoming Parties: D-86 Official

Such gatherings are apparently already in the works.

HINSDALE, IL — Everyone is sad that the fall football season has been canceled, but that gives no reason to hold homecoming parties, a top official from Hinsdale High School District 86 said Thursday. Apparently, such gatherings are being planned.

"Please refrain from hosting all those homecoming parties that are allegedly out there," Superintendent Tammy Prentiss said during a school board meeting. "Students are talking about it with their teachers on Zoom sessions. Students are talking about the big parties that their parents are throwing for them."

Such gatherings would likely cause coronavirus outbreaks, pushing back any plan to bring students back into Hinsdale Central and South for in-person lessons, Prentiss said.

"Parents need to work with us and their young adults to just say, 'No, I'm sorry,'" she said. "We have to work hard on social distancing outside our school walls."

As of Sunday, Hinsdale and Darien had 19.1 and 12.2 coronavirus cases per thousand, respectively, according to county health authorities.
