Severe Weather Spotter Training Offered in Clarendon Hills

The National Weather Service in Chicago will offer a severe weather/tornado course at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 24.

CLARENDON HILLS, IL - The National Weather Service in Chicago will offer a severe weather/tornado course at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 24 at Church of the Holy Nativity, 275 S. Richmond Ave., in Clarendon Hills. The course is hosted by the DuPage Amateur Radio Club.

According to a release about the event, this training offers attendees information on how to safely identify severe weather incidents and how to report them to the weather service to assist in providing advance notice to the public ahead of the storm. Trained spotters play an essential role and anyone with the interest can become one and play a vital role in reducing the future loss of life in future severe weather events. The class is free and open to the public.

David Bukowski, a long time weather enthusiast, ham radio operator, and an officer with Oak Forest Emergency Management, will host the Clarendon Hills Class. Pre-registration is not required for participation at the events listed, but is appreciated to account for seating.
