Tax Hike Possible In Clarendon Hills Neighborhood
A project would reconstruct two streets, but result in a tax increase for residents there.

CLARENDON HILLS, IL – Clarendon Hills is considering a property tax increase in a local neighborhood to pay for the reconstruction of parts of two streets.
The targets are Ann Street and Byrd Court.
According to the village, the owner of a $500,000 house would see a $439 annual tax hike for up to 16 years.

In a memo, Village Manager Kevin Barr said $540,000 of the project would come from gas tax money and $362,000 from a special tax district, financed through a loan.
Barr said an open house on the project was held earlier this month. A public hearing also must be held. A majority of property owners can prevent the tax district from forming.
