HINSDALE, IL – Hinsdale plans to resurface a number of streets next year, for a total of 1.2 miles.

The projects, along with parking lots, are expected to cost about $1 million, including engineering.

Under its plan, the village would resurface Lincoln Street from Third to Eighth streets, Second Street from Sixth to Ninth streets, and Third Street from County Line Road to Hillcrest Avenue and Vine to Grant streets.

It also plans to do patching on Madison Street from Sixth to Ninth streets and York Road from the village limit to Ogden Avenue.

The money is also expected to be used to resurface the parking lots at Veeck Park and the police and fire departments.

"We identified the most critical streets for next year's projects, basically using our criteria of road condition and usage frequency," Trustee Neale Byrnes said at Thursday's Village Board meeting.

Byrnes said all of Madison from Hinsdale Avenue to 55th Street should be resurfaced, but it was too big a project for next year. So the village decided to go with patching to hold it over for a couple of years, he said.

On the radar is Monroe Street between Sixth and Seventh and between Ninth and 55th, Byrnes said. Another one is Birchwood Avenue from the east end to the west end.

"There are only so many streets we can do in one year," Byrnes said.
