HINSDALE, IL – A Hinsdale spa whose owner is accused of taking secret videos of customers is shut down for the time being, the business said Tuesday.

A person answering Reflexion Spa's phone said the business is closed for the next couple of weeks as the owner works on licensing issues.

The owner, 51-year-old Jason W. Spencer of Houston, faces five felony counts of unauthorized video recordings without getting consent, police said.

In a statement last week, Village President Greg Hart said that after the arrest warrant was issued, the village did not renew Reflexion Spa's business license, which expired in December. Hart said Spencer was told of that decision at the time of his Jan. 15 arrest.

In response to a Patch inquiry, Hart said Tuesday that Reflexion had exercised its right to appeal the decision.

"My understanding is that the hearing is in the process of being scheduled," Hart said in a text message.

Police said they identified more than 60 victims who were unknowingly and illegally recorded in treatment rooms.

Patch wrote about the case last week.

Spencer has not returned a message for comment.
