Unruly Parent At Hinsdale Central Game: Records
The parent was "completely out of line" and yelled at the head coach in front of players, according to records.
HINSDALE, IL – The former head coach of the Hinsdale Central High School varsity girls basketball team emailed her superior in November about a spectator who she said was "completely out of line."
Coach Erin Navolio informed Athletic Director Mike Jezioro about the incident in a Nov. 27 message. It happened at a Nov. 22 home game against Chicago's St. Ignatius College Prep, which beat Central 57-45.
She started her email, labeled "Girls Basketball Parent Issues," by saying she had not expected so many such matters so early in the season.

Navolio continued by saying a parent was yelling at her from the bleachers during the game. The person's name was redacted in Hinsdale School District 86's release of the document in response to Patch's public records request.
Later, Navolio said, the person approached her on the way to the field house, calling her "malicious and incompetent" to multiple parents and in front of the varsity and junior varsity teams.

Navolio, who was in her second year as head coach, said she had issues with the person when she was an assistant coach. Last year, the person yelled at the team's training staff, she said.
Navolio said she stayed near her family and assistant coach Allison Rogala until she saw the person leave. She said she didn't trust what the person was going to do.
"I have my program policies that no one seems to want to follow. These policies are the same policies as the Athletic Department," Navolio said. "I know I need to get thicker skin and that I can't make everyone happy, but I can't deal with this parent behavior for another three months."
The district provided no documentation that Jezioro or any other official addressed what the coach described.
Navolio and two assistant coaches resigned four days later. On Tuesday, the district released documents to Patch indicating at least some parents called for her firing days before the resignations.
