Attacker Sentenced in Willowbrook Stabbing, Sexual Assault

An Indiana man has been sentenced to 68 years in prison after the 2015 rape and stabbing of a Willowbrook woman.

WILLOWBROOK, IL — An Indiana man has been sentenced to 68 years in prison after the 2015 rape and stabbing of a Willowbrook woman. Londale Madison, 33, of South Bend, Indiana, pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated criminal sexual assault, attempted murder, home invasion and armed robbery.

Patch reported that Madison followed a Willowbrook woman to her home on Aug. 29, 2015 and asked her for money. Police said after she refused, he forced his way into the woman's home. Once inside, he sexually assaulted the woman and stabbed her 17 times, police said. She fought off Madison and emerged with several broken bones in her face and stab wounds that had barely missed her vital organs.

Melissa Schuster, the woman who was sexually assaulted and stabbed, spoke in court during Madison's sentencing.

In a victim impact statement, Schuster — who fled to a neighbor's house after the attack — said she was "determined to pick myself up." The attack has left her lasting physical and mental scars, she said.

Her physical injuries included broken bones and more than 17 stab wounds to the neck, back of the head and other areas.
