14-Year-Old On Bike Struck By Car In Homer Glen: Cops

The girl has non-life threatening injuries, including broken bones and a bruised liver.

HOMER GLEN, IL — A 14-year-old girl was struck by a car Sunday night in Homer Glen, the Will County Sheriff's Office said. Deputies were called to an intersection of Bell Road, just north of 143rd Street, at 8:47 p.m. for a call of a child struck by a vehicle.

When they arrived, police said the driver of a Mazda 6 was in the intersection with the teen. The girl was laying in the street and was responsive but had difficulty speaking.

Witnesses told police the girl and a friend were crossing Bell Road on their bikes against a red light when the girl was struck. Police said the accident remains under investigation and no tickets have been issued.

Northwest Homer Fire Protection District arrived on scene and the teen was taken to Silver Cross Hospital with multiple broken bones and a bruised liver. She was later taken to Christ Hospital to be treated. Police said initial reports are that the injuries were non-life threatening.
