18 Seat Belt Citations Issued Child Passenger Safety Week: Lockport PD

The campaign's purpose was to increase awareness of proper child safety seat use and encourage all motorists to buckle up.

LOCKPORT, IL — During its Child Passenger Safety Week enforcement campaign, Lockport Police Department said it issued 18 seatbelt citations.

Other citations issued in the campaign, which ran from Sept. 18-24, included two speeding citations, one no valid driver's license, and six other moving/equipment citations.

The department said it joined forces with more than 200 other local law enforcement agencies to increase awareness of proper child safety seat use and encourage all motorists to buckle up.

The effort featured high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities, including a media campaign.

The Child Passenger Safety Week campaign was funded by federal traffic safety funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
