23 Seatbelt Citations During Lockport Police Thanksgiving Campaign

The "Click It or Ticket" and "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" enforcement took place from Nov. 18 to Nov. 28.

LOCKPORT, IL — Lockport Police issued 23 seatbelt citations and apprehended one fugitive during its Thanksgiving traffic safety campaign, according to the department. The "Click It or Ticket" and "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" enforcement took place from Nov. 18 to Nov. 28.

Lockport Police joined agencies across the state in conducting the campaign, the department said.

During the campaign, Lockport issued 23 seat belt citations, one fugitive was apprehended, and also issued 11 speeding citations, 13 other moving/equipment citations, two suspended/revoked licenses and six uninsured motorists.

“Our officers patrol year-round to keep motorists buckled up and impaired drivers off the roads,” the department said. “We do this to save lives and ensure all of us make it home safely at the end of the day.”

The Thanksgiving enforcement effort is made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
