Accused Homer Glen Gas Station Robber Tied To Cook County Heist: Cops
Before continuing his crime spree in Homer Glen, the man stole several bottles of booze from a gas station in Oak Forest, cops said.

OAK FOREST, IL -- Police were in a Cook County courtroom on Friday seeking an arrest warrant for a man believed responsible for an armed robbery in Oak Forest that took place in the early morning hours on March 14. The man is currently in the custody of the Will County Sheriff.
Around 2:38 a.m., the detective told that judge that a man identified as Robert Bennett, 37, of Lansing, entered the Circle K store attached to a Shell gas station at 5616 159th St. in Oak Forest.
According to the detective, Bennett was armed with a ratchet. He filled a bag with four bottles of Fireball Whiskey and three bottles of Crown Royal. After getting the booze, Bennett allegedly raised the ratchet and tried to hit the clerk but missed.

Later that same morning, around 5:20 a.m., Bennett reportedly robbed a Speedway Gas Station in Homer Glen. Police there said Bennett was armed with a shotgun and got away with an unknown amount of cash and a customer’s purse.

Will County Police said Bennett fled the scene and crashed his car. He went back to the Speedway and allegedly stole man’s vehicle as he was pumping gas.

The stolen vehicle was reportedly found in Robbins. Police found Bennett later in the afternoon at the Hi-Way Motel at 159th Street and Central Park Avenue in Markham, Homer Glen Patch reported.
The Oak Forest detective told the judge that Bennett was identified on surveillance video.
The judge issued an arrest warrant carrying $50,000 bail.
