Bomb Threat Reported Wednesday Night At Lockport Jewel: Police

Huff said no explosive devices were located, and the store was eventually reopened to staff and customers on Wednesday night.

LOCKPORT, IL — Several Jewel-Osco grocery stores in the area received bomb threats over the last few days, including the Jewel at 16625 W. 159th St., in Lockport.

Deputy Chief Ron Huff told Patch that police received a call from Jewel at 10 p.m. Wednesday in reference to a "phoned-in bomb threat."

"An anonymous caller reported leaving an explosive device in the store," Huff said.

The store was cleared of customers, and officers searched the store. Huff said no explosive devices were found, and the store was eventually reopened to staff and customers.

"While we were investigating our threat, we learned of other threats that had been called in to other area communities," Huff said. "Our Investigations Division will be conducting an investigation into the source of the threat."

A bomb threat was also reported at the Minooka Jewel on Wednesday night.

On Wednesday morning, Homewood Police were at the Jewel at 3153 W. 183rd Street, in response to a phoned-in bomb threat. The Cook County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad responded and cleared the area with no threat found.
