Coronavirus Complaints: 3 Homer Glen, Lockport Businesses Hit
Residents made the complaints to the Will County Health Department.
HOMER GLEN, IL — Three businesses in Homer Glen and Lockport have received "COVID-19 complaints" in recent months. The complaints are filed by members of the public and then investigated by the Will County Health Department. The health department reached out to each business via phone and also conducted on-site visits.
Patch filed a FOIA request with the Will County Health Department, asking for complaints filed against businesses regarding social distancing and health guidelines since May.

Business: BMO Harris, 12747 W. 143rd St., Homer Glen
Complaint: People standing closer than six feet away, lots of people inside the bank standing elbow to elbow.

The health department closed the complaint on May 15. The department first spoke to the facility over the phone and was told it was adhering to social distancing guidelines of maintaining 6 feet of distance and wearing masks when dealing with customers in the lobby. All business was now being conducted through the drive-thru.
Health department staff was on site on May 15 and observed three tellers at the drive-thru, and one was not wearing a mask. The health department spoke with the bank manager, who said the floor is marked with tape for distancing guidelines between employees. There are two ways for employees to exit the drive-thru counter and if a teller has to override something in another teller's computer, they both must wear masks. The health department also observed a bucket of sanitizer with a rag on the counter. It concluded the requirements of 6 feet of distance were being met.
Business: Chipotle Mexican Grill, 16433 W. 159th St., Lockport
Complaint: Employees not wearing masks properly and touching faces while working.
The health department closed the complaint on June 12. The health department went on site and did observe an employee wearing a mask improperly. They let the manager know that the mask must cover the mouth and nose, not the mouth only. The department also said the mask can become contaminated if handling the front of the mask with bare hands. The mask should be taken off and put on by touching the side elastics only.
Business: Enzo's Pizza, 13001 W. 143rd St., Homer Glen
Complaint: The waiter and cook are not wearing masks.
The complaint was filed on July 21. The health department went on-site on July 23 and spoke with the owner. The owner was told the health department strongly recommends employees wear face masks if 6 feet of distance cannot be maintained between employees when handling food.
The complaint was then closed.
