Details Unclear In Lockport Township Shooting

Two men were shot several times each during a shooting in Lockport Township on Oct. 14.

LOCKPORT TOWNSHIP, IL — Two men who were victims of a shooting in Lockport Township on Oct. 14 are in stable condition, the Will County Sheriff's Office said.

Police responded to a home at 8:23 p.m. Friday after a report of multiple shots fired to find that two people had been shot outside a home while sitting in a vehicle, the sheriff's office said.
Deputies began providing medical aid to two men when they arrived, according to the sheriff's office. One man, 36, had been shot in the face, hand and leg; and another man, 34, had been shot in the back.

Police believe the men were targeted by the offenders.

Lockport Township Fire personnel arrived and took both victims to the local hospital, where they were stabilized but in critical condition, according to the sheriff's office.

Information gathered from the victims at the scene and neighbors indicates that the two men had been inside the home and went to leave in their vehicle, when unknown subjects approached the vehicle from behind and began firing gunshots into the vehicle, according to the sheriff's office. Police do not know how many offenders there were.

A total of 33 shell casings from different types of firearms were found on scene, the sheriff's office said.

Three types of ammunition were recovered, but it is unclear which weapons the bullets were fired from, according to the sheriff's office.

It is believed that the offenders were on foot and no identifying information has been gathered, police said.

Investigators have been canvassing the neighborhood and surrounding area to collect video surveillance footage and gather additional information, police said. Some witnesses in the area were uncooperative with police, according to the sheriff's office.

Police will interview the victims again when their health allows, the sheriff's office said.
