Ex-Teacher Pleads Guilty To Trying To Post Nude Image

LOCKPORT, IL — An ex-Lockport Township High School teacher and Mokena resident pleaded guilty of posting a sex image of an ex-girlfriend. Stephen Sodorborg, 30, has pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted non-consensual dissemination of private sexual images stemming from an incident in 2015.

The Chicago Tribune reported that Soderborg was scheduled for a jury trial, but entered his guilty plea instead. He must now serve 24 months of court supervision, community service hours and has to pay a fine.

Originally, Soderborg pleaded not guilty in January 2017. Patch reported at the time that Soderborg was charged with attempted non-consensual dissemination of private sexual images. He was charged with a misdemeanor, since his action was considered an attempt.

Soderborg posted a nude photo of his ex-girlfriend on a website called ZOIG. The website is known for featuring "homemade porn" and other sex photos and videos. He posted the photo to the website in 2015, but wasn't arrested until last year.

According to Will County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kathy Hoffmeyer police received a complaint in December 2015 regarding Soderborg posting sexual images of his ex-girlfriend without her consent to an online site.

Hoffmeyer said detectives began an investigation which included cell phone and laptop forensics being completed and interviewing the victim and Soderborg. Soderborg made statements at the time that he was upset about the couple’s break-up and attempted to post the photos.

He also told police at the time that shortly after he attempted to post them he took them down. In the course of the investigation detectives were able to recover one sexual image of the victim.

According to LTHS communications director Kim Brehm, Sodorborg was a teacher at LTHS from 2012 until February 2017 when he resigned. He taught horticulture in the science department at the school.
