Fire Damages Apartment Building In Lockport Township
No injuries were reported and the Red Cross was called in to assist with any occupant needs.

LOCKPORT, IL — An apartment building in Lockport Township was damaged by a fire on Aug. 7. According to the Lockport Township Fire Protection District, a structure fire was reported in the 1300 block of Argo Lane at 10:04 p.m.
The building is a two-story, 4-unit apartment building, and the fire was located in the kitchen of the first floor in the back apartment. The fire department said crews were able to contain the fire to the kitchen area, but there was smoke damage throughout the building.
During a search of the building, crews found an occupant of a second floor unit who was still in his apartment, and he was quickly self-evacuated. The department said no injuries were reported and the Red Cross was called in to assist with any occupant needs.

The cause of the fire was found to be accidental, the department said. Lockport was assisted by East Joliet and Northwest Homer at the scene while Homer, Lemont, Plainfield, Romeoville and Troy provided change of quarters coverage.
