Fire Leaves Apartment Building Uninhabitable: Lockport Fire Dept.

No injuries were reported, and the residents were able to safely evacuate.

LOCKPORT, IL — An apartment building was left uninhabitable after a fire Monday in Lockport, the Lockport Township Fire Protection District said. Fire crews were called to a reported structure fire in a 2-story, 4-unit apartment building at 3:05 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of Rosanne Lane in Lockport.

The department said a fire was discovered between the walls of two units that extended to the second floor and attic of the building. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes.

No injuries were reported, and the residents were able to safely evacuate. The Red Cross was called in to assist six residents of the building, since it was left uninhabitable, the district said.

Lockport was assisted by East Joliet, Homer, and Northwest Homer Fire Districts at the scene
while Lemont, Mokena, New Lenox, Plainfield and Romeoville provided change of quarters
station coverage.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
