LOCKPORT, IL — Five businesses were broken into overnight on Ninth Street in Lockport. The incidents happened around 12:15 a.m. Friday, and the offenders had fled by the time police had arrived on scene.
Police said all the businesses were closed and no one was around at the time of the break-ins. Ace Hardware, Subway, Rosati's Pizza, Tobacco Empire and Strictly Vape were all broken into, but no merchandise was stolen from any of the stores.
The offenders smashed windows and doors to gain entry into the stores and stole whatever cash was in the registers. Police said they believe the same offenders committed all the break-ins and several similar crimes that were reported in nearby towns.
