Goodings Grove first-graders host Mother's Day Tea

Show moms how much they're loved

Mother’s Day arrived early for moms with first-graders at Goodings Grove School.

On May 2, 3 and 4, each first-grade class took its turn, inviting moms in for a Mother’s Day Tea.

“Don’t they look so handsome and pretty,” Reading Coordinator Mary Ellen Ferguson remarked as students gathered in the school’s Media Center to perform a musical skit for their moms.

“They’ve been working really hard,” teachers Jamie Burns, Gina Suggs and Janet Blackburn told parents as each class took center stage to sing sings about how much they’re loved and appreciated.

“I love you Mommy, my awesome Mommy,” students sang to the tune of “You are My Sunshine.”

“You’re great; you’re first rate,” they chanted in unison. “So let’s have a party.”

Afterward, the first-graders presented their mothers with colorful daisies and escorted them back to their classrooms where they enjoyed cupcakes together.

Students were eager to show their mothers the cards and canvas paintings they created for them for Mother’s Day.

The Mother’s Day Tea is a long-standing tradition at Goodings Grove School.
