Fire Causes Extensive Damage To Lockport Home: Lockport Fire District

Firefighters worked for about an hour to bring the fire under control.

LOCKPORT, IL — A home in Lockport is uninhabitable after a house fire early Monday, according to a news release from the Lockport Township Fire Protection District.

Firefighters responded to a reported house fire at 2:05 a.m. Monday in the 200 block of East 20th Court.

The fire district said the fire was on the outside of a two-story, single-family home, and had also extended into the second-floor voice spaces and attic, as well as to the detached garage. Firefighters worked for about an hour to bring the fire under control.

According to the District, the occupants of the home were alerted to the fire by a neighbor and were able to safely evacuate prior to the fire department’s arrival. No injuries were reported.

The home was left uninhabitable due to the extensive smoke and fire damage.

Mutual aid from Frankfort, Lemont, Northwest Homer, and Plainfield assisted at the scene of the fire while Bolingbrook, Channahon, East Joliet, Orland, and Romeoville covered the Lockport stations, the fire district said.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Lockport Fire Investigators.
