Homer Glen Plans Veterans Day Celebration Event

This is the second year for the Veterans Day Celebration event in Homer Glen.

HOMER GLEN, IL — The village of Homer Glen will hold a Veterans Day event to recognize and honor all those who are serving or have served the country. The event will be held from 12 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 10 at Konow's Farm.

The village said all veterans and members of the public are invited to attend the celebration, which is sponsored by the village of Homer Glen, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5788 and Auxiliary, the Lockport American Legion Post 18 and Auxiliary, the Sons of the Legion, Homer Glen American Legion Post 2011, and Konow’s Corn Maze.

This is the second year for the Veterans Day Celebration event. The village said there will be various activities at the event, including a 21-gun salute from the Will County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard. There will also be DJ music entertainment by White Rose Weddings; tractors and military vehicles on display; and face painting and outdoor amusement fun.

Veterans will have the opportunity to win a 50” television door prize. The village said itsHomer Glen Foundation will raise also funds for a Veterans Plaza, to be constructed at Heritage Park, with proceeds generated from a donation drawing and the sales of special Veterans Day T-shirts.

Lastly, the village is seeking photos from veterans for a digital display. Photos should be sent to mediarelations@homerglenil.org. In addition, any veteran in the village that will need assistance with transportation to attend the celebration, can contact the village at 708-301-0632 to arrange for a ride. Rides need to be scheduled by Thursday, Nov. 7.
