Homer Glen Prohibits Recreational Cannabis Sales

The board voted 5-1 to approve the prohibition, with Trustee Ann Holtz as the sole 'no' vote.

HOMER GLEN, IL — At its Nov. 13 meeting, the village of Homer Glen approved an amendment prohibiting cannabis business establishments in the village boundaries. The board voted 5-1 to approve the prohibition, with Trustee Ann Holtz as the sole 'no' vote.

"I would like to wait a year, and see what happens," Mayor George Yukich said at the Nov. 13 meeting. "If it works out, then that's great. If not, I don't want to be part of the problem."

Homer Glen joins several communities nearby that have also prohibited the sale of recreational cannabis including Lockport, New Lenox, Mokena and Frankfort.
