HOMER GLEN, IL — A village trustee in Homer Glen has resigned, sharing her resignation in a community Facebook group. Ann Holtz began her term as trustee in 2019 and has resigned effective April 30, she shared on Facebook. Holtz said her decision to resign is due to a difference in vision for the village.

"To be very frank, from my perspective, my vision for the future of the village does not mesh with that of Mayor Yukich, and the majority of the village board," Holtz said on Facebook.

She said this was a decision she had been considering for four months and it "was far from an easy decision."

"One issue I feel very strongly about is the latest extension of Govenor Pritzker's stay-at-home order," Holtz said. "It appears that my viewpoint directly contradicts with that of the majority of the board, and I will not change my stance on this issue. I cannot support some of the decisions that have been made. These recent events, on the heels of several others have contributed to my decision to resign."

In her social media point, Holtz did not elaborate on what that viewpoint was.

Holtz specifically thanked Trustee Ruben Pazmino and Clerk Christina Neitzke-Troike in her post.

"Despite my high hopes at the beginning of my term, I now feel that the majority of the time, my ideas or suggestions are not appreciated and at times completely dismissed," Holtz said. "I was elected by the village residents to do a job, and I feel like I have been met with nothing but resistance and negativity the majority of the time."

Patch reached out to Holtz for additional comment, and has also reached out to the village of Homer Glen information. The village has not shared any information on Holtz's resignation or the process of appoint a new trustee.
