Lockport Bicyclist Killed In Florida Hit And Run

Jacob Weinert was riding his bike at 4:39 a.m. Tuesday in the marked bike lane on US 301 in Florida when he was struck by a pickup truck.

LOCKPORT, IL — A 28-year-old Lockport man has been killed after a hit and run in Florida. Jacob Weinert was riding his bike at 4:39 a.m. Tuesday in the marked bike lane on southbound US 301 in Thonotosassa, Florida, when he was struck by a pickup truck.

Weinert was transported to a local hospital, where he died.

The pick-up truck fled the scene after the hit and run, but was described as a two-door white pickup truck. The Florida Highway Patrol is now asking for help to locate the driver.
