Lockport Heroes 2026 Banner Program Opens In January

Banners celebrating Lockport's heroes are displayed from Memorial Day to Veterans Day in Central Square and surrounding streets.

LOCKPORT, IL — The City of Lockport, Lockport Council of Arts and Lockport VFW Post 5788 will once again host the Lockport Heroes Banner program in 2026.

Through the program, banners celebrating Lockport's heroes are displayed from Memorial Day to Veterans Day in Central Square and surrounding streets.

According to the City, honorees must be a current resident of Lockport, a deceased individual who previously lived in Lockport, or someone who grew up in Lockport with the sponsor currently living in the city.

Each banner costs $150, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Lockport VFW. First-come, first-serve applications open Jan. 11, and will be accepted until April 1 or until all spots are filled.

The City said that heroes who have been previously honored can be recognized again, either with a new banner for $150 or by reusing their existing banner for $50.
