Lockport Park District Plans Social Distance Shuffle
The virtual race will be held from May 26 to July 5, and racers can span their miles over the days and weeks.
LOCKPORT, IL — While larger gatherings like 5Ks or races are still not allowed in Illinois, the Lockport Township Park District will host a virtual race, the Social Distance Shuffle.
You can register online for the race, which will cost $30 per person and you will receive a medal and T-shirt. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Dellwood Foundation.
There will be a 7.5K and a 75K offered, and you can run, walk or bike your own race, at your own pace and time yourself. You can span the miles over days or weeks until July 5.

"Our recreation department is constantly brainstorming for different ideas so people can still enjoy recreation while social distancing during this pandemic," Public Relations and Marketing Supervisor Pam Hutton told Patch. "We all know about the toilet paper shortages, staying six feet apart, using hand sanitizer and of course wearing a face mask while in public. Therefore, we figured we'd combine these realities, along with a race and the park district's 75th anniversary."
The 7.5K race is called the Toilet Paper Trot, while the 75K is called the Face Mask Frolic. Racers must register by May 25.
