Lockport Police Announce Memorial Day Patrol Results
Officers on patrol checked for occupant and child restraint violations, cell phone usage violations and more.

LOCKPORT, IL — The Lockport Police Department conducted seatbelt safety zones and special patrols during the Memorial Day holiday from May 18-29 in Lockport. The department said the result of the patrols resulted in 1 DUI arrest, 39 seat belt violations for front seat passengers, eight seat belt violations for rear seat passengers, one car seat citation, one suspended driver license, two uninsured motorists, 12 speeders and 14 distracted drivers ticket.
According to the department, officers on patrol checked for occupant and child restraint violations, cell phone usage violations, and other violations of the Illinois Vehicle Code. Drivers and passengers are encouraged to always wear a seatbelt, never use an electronic communication device while driving, and not drink and drive.
These campaigns are possible through traffic safety enforcement grants from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
